Orton-Gillingham Decodable Stories: Level 7: A Day at the Farm (Level 7 Orton-Gillingham Decodable Stories Book 3)

About

Orton-Gillingham Decodable Stories: Level 7 – A Day at the Farm is a structured decodable reader designed for developing readers learning through the Orton-Gillingham approach.

This Level 7 story builds on previously taught short-vowel words, digraphs, consonant clusters, silent-e words, r-controlled vowels, suffixes, and two-syllable words.

Readers practise final y making the long e sound in words such as sunny, yummy, and greedy, along with common vowel teams including ay, ai, oa, ue, and ie in words such as day, played, hay, wait, goats, blue, and pie.

Carefully controlled text helps children apply their phonics knowledge to connected reading while building accurate decoding, fluency, confidence, and growing independence.

About the Story

Jane wakes up on a sunny day and invites her friends over. After playing tennis and swimming, they decide to ride their bikes to the farm.

At the farm, the friends race through a maze, zoom down a blue slide, feed goats and sheep, eat homemade cherry pie, and go for a horse ride through the woods. When the weather turns windy and a storm approaches, they ride home just in time.

The clear sequence, repeated sentence patterns, and controlled vocabulary give developing readers meaningful practice using phonics skills in a complete story.
